We have three announcements to bring to your attention.

(1) UPDATE REGARDING CAN TV

Supporters of Chicago Access Network Television (CAN TV, Chicago's
public access cable television network) are encouraged to attend 
a City of Chicago Committee on Finance Meeting at the City Hall 
Council Chambers (121 N. LaSalle, 2nd floor) on Friday, June 18, at 10am.

This hearing will hold a debate and a vote on the May 5 Stone ordinance,
which would improve the funding structure for CAN TV.  We strongly
encourage you to attend.  (To confirm your attendance and for

(2) CMA WELCOMES ROBERT JENSEN TO CHICAGO

CMA welcomes Robert Jensen, professor of journalism at the University of
Texas, to give a presentation on media activism, accompanied by excerpts
of two Media Education Foundation films which include Professor Jensen.  

The presentation will be on Wednesday, June 16, at 7pm, at the University
of Illinois-Chicago campus at the College of Medicine West (the corner of
Polk and Wolcott), 1853 W. Polk, Room 106.

(3) LOW POWER FM ACT IN THE SENATE

On Friday, June 4, Senators John McCain (R-AZ) and Patrick Leahy
(D-VT) introduced the Low Power Radio Act of 2004.  This act would
authorize the mass deployment of thousands of low-power radio stations 
across the United States.  There is some momentum behind this
act, but you are encouraged to contact your senators in support of
