For more information, please visit: http://www.laborbeat.org/3/labormediaconference.txt *** *** *** *** *** *** *** In a previous alert, Chicago Media Action announced the use of its Rapid Response Form to rally support for the cause of Grant Newburger, a Chicago activist who was among the 800-plus arrestees on the Lake Shore Drive protest of March 20, 2003, and who faced trial on October 14. More than 60 used the Rapid Response Form to register their request with the State's Attorney's office to drop the charges against Grant. The word came from court this morning that the case against Grant was dismissed. As Grant himself wrote: "A victory for our movement!! Many thanks to all who e-mailed, faxed, wrote and called the State's Attorney, passed out leaflets and came to court on my behalf (and in defense of the March 20 action and the right to dissent). I believe it made a difference in the State's desire to pursue this case." *** *** *** *** *** *** *** Save the date: November 23, 2003. Chicago Media Action has received a number of requests for encore screenings of the Guerrilla News Network's documentary "Aftermath: Unanswered Questions from 9/11", which CMA presented on September 11.
