CHICAGO MEDIA ACTION ALERT, December 6, 2003 http://www.chicagomediaaction.org This alert passes along details of some December events involving Chicago Media Action. *** *** *** *** *** *** *** Chicago Media Action cordially invites you to a protest. FCC Chair Michael Powell has been absolutely awful for media democracy in the United States in the past year, as he tirelessly works to give away public media resources to fatcat media moguls. Mr. Powell will be making a Chicago visit in December, and Chicago Media Action would like to give Mr. Powell the protest he deserves. Join Chicago Media Action for an event perfect for the holidays, complete with warm drinks, camaraderie, and protest against Mr. Powell, including the world debut of some media-and-holiday-themed carols, including: * Michael Powell's Coming To Town * The Public Interest Angels Sing * I'm Dreaming of a White Media plus the classic "God Bless Ye Olde Commissioners" Where: Outside the Sheraton Hotel, 301 E. North Water St., downtown Chicago. When: Thursday, December 18, 2003, from 6:45pm to 8pm, as Mr. Powell speaks before the Economic Club of Chicago. http://www.chicagomediaaction.org/index.php?link=powell_yuletide *** *** *** *** *** *** *** On October 16, 2003, Chicago Media Action held a public education forum on Racial Stereotypes in Media.
